6th Grade- Morgan Athey

Hello! My name is Morgan Athey and I am one of the two sixth grade teachers at Monterey this year! I teach mathematics and science. I am originally from a small town surrounded by corn in Illinois (there are more students graduating each year from Skyview than people living in my hometown), and taught second grade there for three years before moving to Denver. Since moving to Denver, I have also taught fourth and fifth grades at Monterey and Trailside. I graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and am currently working on my master’s in Educational Leadership with a principal license through Regis University. In my free time, I enjoy playing and watching sports (Bears, Cubs, Bulls), working out and hiking, listening to music, hanging out with family friends, and playing with my puppy, Malcolm. Looking forward to a great year!

6th Grade- Chelsea Clark

Hello, my name is Chelsea Clark and I will be teaching 6th grade this year at Monterey Community School. I moved to Colorado from New York to obtain my Masters in the Art of Education at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. I received my bachelors degree in Speech Language Pathology at the State University of New York, College at Cortland. This will be my fifth year teaching in a general education setting; I also taught one year of reading interventions and two years of Pre-K 4/5. I love working with children because they see life through a different lens and are eager to learn. I aim to help my students grow in all facets of learning and to support them in whichever way I can. On the weekends I like to get outside and do some hiking. I also love art, music and my fuzzy cat, Winston. I am excited to meet the community that surrounds Monterey!

Seventh & Eighth Grade

7th/8th Math- Zander Epps

My name is Zander Epps and I will be the 7th/8th grade Math teacher. This will be my second year as a full-time teacher, but I’ve already had the privilege of meeting and working with a majority of the students recently, as a long-term guest teacher here at Monterey. I am originally from San Diego, CA and I went to Lourdes University in Toledo, OH on a volleyball scholarship. I moved to Thornton about three years ago with my fiancé, Kirstin, and our husky, Neiko. We enjoy hiking, skiing, and exploring all the other things that this beautiful state of Colorado has to offer! I also coach both high school and club volleyball in the area. Teaching has been in my blood; my father is a retired teacher and my oldest brother is currently a teacher. I am extremely excited to embark on this journey and continue the teaching tradition in my family!

7th/8th Science- Jaymie Ingalls

7th/8th ELA- Marissa Mallery

With 10 years of teaching experience, I am dedicated to facilitating students' acquisition of knowledge about the world, diverse cultures, and self-discovery. Originally from Pennsylvania, my upbringing in the Pocono Mountains fostered a deep appreciation for the outdoors, ultimately leading me to Colorado. The foundation of my passion for teaching was laid during my volunteer work with various communities in the Northeast, where I was invigorated by the fresh ideas and enthusiastic engagement of the children. Obtaining my education degree from Temple University in Philadelphia provided me with invaluable opportunities to teach in diverse school environments. In my leisure time, I enjoy engaging in activities such as snowboarding, hiking, reading, and meditation.

7th/8th Humanities- Mallory Sullivan

Hi! My name is Mallory Sullivan and I am the Humanities teacher for 7th and 8th grade. I teach world history for 7th grade and U.S history for 8th graders. This is my 5th year here at Monterey and have had the privilege to have come back to this school after reconstruction and COVID online. I enjoy travelling, museums, camping with friends and my Australian Shepherd named Cash, and watching sports. I am a Colorado native and enjoy giving back to communities around me. I graduated with a history and education degree from Colorado State University (Go Rams!) and am thrilled to start this new year with your student(s).
